Everything you need to travel the highways and byways of traditional sock knitting.
*Why US 1/2.5mm needles? Here's the story: We sent off an email to Cat Bordhi as part of our planning for the Sox in a Sack Sets. Our question: what size needle do most knitters use for socks?
Our email caught up with her as she was having dinner - with Nancy Bush, Sally Melville and Stephanie Pearl McPhee! We had stumbled, virtually, into a gathering of knitting luminaries (and yes, we do wish we had been there). Cat seized the moment and took an informal poll. The unanimous consensus was: "Most knitters use a US 2, but socks should really be knit on a US 1." There wasn't even a murmur of doubt, not a moment's hesitation. Cat, Nancy, Sally and Stephanie all said the very same thing. And so, we offer you US 1 needles - because we want your socks to be knit in the very best way possible. (We do, however, recognize that not everyone knits at the same gauge. If you are a very tight knitter, follow the instructions to request US 2 needles instead!)
